India wins series against Australia by 4-1

India won ODI series against Australia 4-1, become World No.1 ODI team. Rohit Sharma at his best and scored another century   at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium on October 1 in the final ODI against Australia helped India to beat Australia by seven wickets to clinch series 4-1. Chasing 243 for victory, Sharma set up a solid opening stand of 124 runs for the first wicket before notching yet another 50-plus with skipper Virat Kohli. Having already slammed two half-centuries in the series, Rohit Sharma completed his 35th ODI half-century in 52 balls. He looked in sublime form in the fifth ODI as well, oozing class while driving bowlers through cover at will.

Earlier in August 2017 India had won test series with Sri Lanka.  This was the second time in the last two years that India  won a Test series in Sri Lanka. This was also Virat Kohli’s eighth straight Test series win. He was then just one short of Ricky Ponting’s nine and will have a chance to equal that when Sri Lanka return to India for a three-Test series later this year. India had also clinched the five-match ODI series with Sri Lanka (August-September, 2017) with an unassailable 5-0 lead.
